This seems to back up a change of tone about global warming coming from senior levels of the US administration, since the G8 Summit in Germany this summer. President Bush’s chief scientific advisor, Professor Marburger, agrees that global warming is being driven by humans, is potentially very dangerous, and that we need to get on with the business of changing our energy technologies. (Hopefully US foreign policy regarding oil-rich states as well.) He’s cautious about the predictive abilities of science when it comes to precise changes – e.g. changes of two or three degrees – both are devastating – but his seems a clear and balanced voice.
