A complex issue: carbon trading

Here’s one of the better summaries I have come across about the complexity of issues around carbon trading. (That said, the portrayal of US resistance to global cooperation may now be old news – one hopes.) Listen out for the optimistic tone in the car salesman’s voice, how a Hummer that does “a little more than 10mpg” sounds good! It’s also fairly disturbing to hear the Chinese Greenpeace activist support the Chinese government’s prioritisation of economic growth over ecological protection. Hopefully initiatives like the Cool Earth project will do what they aim to do, namely, to price degradation out of the market in accordance with Stern’s Review.
